How to Get Your Boiler Technician License in California
Meet Basic Requirements
Be at least 18 years old with a valid ID. Pass a background check.
Complete Education
High school diploma or GED; boiler technology coursework preferred
Gain 2 Years of Experience
Minimum 2 years of boiler operation or maintenance experience.
Pass the Boiler Operator Exam
Register with National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors and pass the required licensing exam.
Obtain Insurance & Bonding
Secure General Liability, Workers Compensation insurance.
Submit Application
Apply to the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB). Pay the application and license fees.
