How to Get Your Carpenter License in California
Meet Basic Requirements
Be at least 18 years old with a valid ID.
Complete Education
High school diploma or GED
Gain 3 Years of Experience
Minimum 3 years of carpentry experience or completion of apprenticeship.
Complete Apprenticeship
Complete 6,000 hours of apprenticeship training.
Obtain Insurance & Bonding
Secure General Liability, Workers Compensation insurance.
Submit Application
Apply to the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB). Pay the application and license fees.
