How to Get Your Pest Control License in California
Meet Basic Requirements
Be at least 18 years old with a valid ID. Pass a background check.
Complete Education
High school diploma or GED; state-approved pest control training program required
Gain 1 Years of Experience
Minimum 1 year of experience as a pest control technician under a licensed operator.
Pass the Pest Control Operator Exam
Register with State Department of Agriculture and pass the required licensing exam.
Obtain Insurance & Bonding
Secure General Liability, Pollution Liability insurance and a $7,000 surety bond.
Submit Application
Apply to the California Department of Pesticide Regulation. Pay the application and license fees.
